Working For You

Since my re-election in 2019 we have faced enormous challenges especially with the impact of Covid which had resulted in the County being closed for much of 2020 and 2021.

Yet work has continued on the improvement of our infrastructure for the betterment of all.

  • Over €5 million was been secured to upgrade the section of the N86 through Annascaul village. A contractor commenced the road improvement of this 1.5 km section in September 2022 and was completed in May 2023.

  • Upgrade works as part of the N86 project from Páirc An Ághasaigh into Dingle town was completed in the Summer of 2023. This included the construction of a walk way and a cycle way.

  • Funding of €50,000 has been secured by Kerry County Council to develop plans for a car park at Faha, An Clochán which is presently progressing.

  • Kerry County Council are presently working on the design and planning of 37 housing units at Baile Beag, Dingle.

  • The final Report on the Tralee Bay Coastal flood and erosion studies are being finalized and ready for publication. It includes the whole coastline from Ballyheigue to Brandon point. The OPW requested these studies ahead of any proposed extensive coastal and flood intervention works which they are intending to carry out over the coming years.

  • A preferred site has been identified for the purposes of constructing a wastewater treatment area at the villages of Annascaul and Ceann Trá. The site inspections have been completed and are under consideration by Irish Water for funding to the next stage.

  • Provision of a community playground at Glen’s School.

During my previous term on Kerry County Council and other bodies I have consistently pushed for and supported the major infrastructural works that have been carried out in the Dingle municipal area.

These include;

• Investment to complete the first phase of the Dingle Inner Relief Road which has now completed. During my term on the Council I have consistently supported this vital infrastructural development.

• Investment to widen and dredge the channel in Dingle harbour. I see this as crucial to the development of Dingle harbour and port.

• I have lobbied relentlessly to secure investment for the upgrading on the N 86 road to Dingle - this is a hugely important project so that there is a high-quality access route to Dingle.

• €2.2 million has been spent on the upgrades at the Blasket Island Interpretative Centre.

• €440,000 to develop a master plan for the old Dingle Hospital. I have supported the re-development of the old hospital building and I see it’s huge potential as a social, tourism and economic hub for the area.

• I have supported the many playgrounds which Kerry County Council have supported and built right throughout the municipal area.

I’ll continue to work hard to better our community with your support.
